Membership

Membership is optional and supports the journal’s open-access publishing. It does not affect peer review or editorial decisions.

THE PRINCIPLE

What membership is

Membership is a way of supporting open-access publication in transplantation. It carries a reduction in the article processing charge and a small number of practical benefits.

Membership confers no advantage in the review or acceptance of a member’s own manuscripts. Every submission is screened and reviewed on the same terms, by the same process, against the same criteria, whoever sends it.

All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal’s scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review.

Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.

Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. Decisions remain independent of fees, services, memberships and editorial or reviewing roles.

CATEGORIES

Membership categories

Three categories are offered. The fee is a membership fee and is separate from the article processing charge.

INDIVIDUAL
USD 185 per year. A 15% reduction in the article processing charge on the member’s own submissions, access to the journal’s issue announcements, and a listing in the member directory.
INSTITUTIONAL
USD 945 per year. A 25% reduction in the article processing charge for authors affiliated with the institution, and a named contact in the editorial office.
LIFETIME FELLOW
USD 1,395, paid once. A 30% reduction in the article processing charge on the member’s own submissions, for as long as the membership stands.

The article processing charge itself, and the terms on which it is billed, are published on Article Processing Charges.

How to join

Membership is arranged by the editorial office. There is no application form to complete.
